We've actually been investigating this one ever since release, and I still don't know what causes it. It seems like a super rare bug that only some people have. Me and my testers have tried to trigger it but still can't find the cause.
So far the only thing I've learned is that the screen isn't actually entirely black, you can keep progressing the level and at some point the black will cut off and you'll see the rest of the level.
Yeah, I've heard the coin collection and jumping sound effect whenever I move with it on. It's occurred on both the Itch version (which I just tested on after this happened) and the Steam version (the one I was originally playing) So it might be my PC. But now that I've heard about other people experiencing the bug, I'm less certain about that. Thanks for the confirmation, though. I hope you'll be able to fix it sooner rather than later, I've seen the gameplay from other people and it is genuinely amazing.
