This game was amazing - I don't think I've played a game written and designed quite so well for a while. I'd grown tired of the yandere genre as it's all over itch, and funnily enough blonds aren't my type - I actually gave it a shot because of Wes. However, the writing for Nik immediately swept me away. You can tell this game was written by women and I mean that as the highest compliment - not once did I feel turned off by his character, likely because despite having vague boundaries with MC, his moral stance is to never hurt her or her loved ones. Plus, him and MC have some pretty witty and fun lines together that had me kicking my feet, I can't lie. And can we talk about that voice acting!? It actually made me more attracted to his character. He doesn't try too hard to sound good, but naturally and smoothly voices Nik in a way that just wins players over. The game also provides an aesthetic interface which is clearly laid out, and I really like the small things that are paid extra detail to such as there being a "Jazz Lounge" where you can listen to the different tracks, alluding to the jazz club MC plays at in the game. Moreover, the side characters are not written for the MC but play their own interesting roles. I really like how MC is given a healthy dynamic with her mother as that's hard to find in a lot of media (which instead tends to give all heroes a rocky relationship with their folks), this was refreshing and cosy. Each event of the story made sense in the plot and weren't infuriating or unnecessary issues that make your eyes roll. Though things do slow down a little after the Olympus visit, I think that's natural for the plot. I was completely hooked and enjoyed every moment.
The only thing I can really say for improvement is having numerous chapters makes it a little hard to gage where you're at in the story, I think this could be better segmented by introducing Acts (like chapters 1-5 are Act 1, 5-15 is Act 2, etc.) so players have a better sense of when they're getting to the end. Also!! What happened to kitty!! It would have been nice to have reference to the kitten they saved afterwards, but he wasn't mentioned again :(
Overall? Nik is the only blond I will ever fall for. I'M TEAM NIK ALL THE WAY!!! (But yes I will be playing the DLC and indulging in that Wes route :p). In my opinion, this game is absolutely worth spending time and money on, and I'm very happy to do so. I look forward to future projects from this studio!
