Dungeon Ward is a mix of classic grid-based dungeon crawler and fast-paced action RPG, offering intense real-time combat, strategic movement, and character progression. Developed by solo indie developer, Dungeon Ward reignites the thrill of 90s dungeon crawling with heart-pounding combat at its core.

I’ve been a big fan of classic ’90s dungeon crawlers—Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Wizardry, Ishar. Seven years ago I started working solo in the evenings on my own grid-based crawler but I wanted something more combat oriented, so I mixed it with stuff I loved in Diablo 1. I got hooked on game dev and, after about four years, released Dungeon Ward on mobile. In the three years since, it’s been downloaded about 1 million times. I thought the genre was dead, but clearly people still enjoy it.

Over the last year I’ve ported it to PC, added full controller support, rewrote the input to handle multi-key presses, added key rebinding and settings, improved resolution support, and shipped new localizations. I’m now releasing a demo featuring the first two major bosses—give it a try!
