Tellus was never meant to live beyond chapter 1, lol. That’s why he’s not featured much. Remember that we’re only 4 chapters in—plenty of time to get to know him. 😊
And I think you’re confused, Bayram calls Calliope “little hope”, or “dear hope”. You can find translations of all his expressions in the codex.
