Goofy idea to review game after year is totally good idea trust.

tldr is started for good, ended by shooting yourself into leg twice.

simplest way to explain issues is describe members.

Remilia:

Claw fine, Kiss too, Chain Gang useless at all, Ceiling Fear too, all spell cards also bad

Flandre:

can't properly tell because auto attack and half of skills have description

Sakuya:

Throwing Knives fine, Vanish too when work, Bounce useless cus Throwing exist, Close up magic useless, Misdirection fine, Ripper fine, Perfect Maid useless, first 2 spell card useless, agi cards fine, Scarred Soul fine, World weeird.

Patchy:

useless 90% of time

Now detailed explanation why most of members bad:

1)Battle system

due to game being ATB or active time battle most of skill requires charge time and it's super lethal for patchy, by the time you use Chant-high level enemy move like 5 times and 90% of time you will dead/disabled, so most of time she have no skills, same for most of spell cards requiring so absurd time to use half of your moveset useless (or even something simple as BUFFS REMOVAL, seriously that item so slow bosses kill you faster).

2)Enemies

you can't disable them. At all, they have 97-99% resist that makes you wonder why stun/paralyze even exist in first place. Outside of that other states also have massive resists + their moveset much much stronger than you (final boss so stupidly strong i just dropped him, 90% resist to drain attacks, passive degens that not disappear, and on 120k force use spellcards when she can easily recover yourself while you charge them is stupid, 20k HP + Flandre was casually dying so other members were also shredded like nothing, also 800k hp when only % damage is 2% and other moves deals like 10k damage per usage makes it very very stalling and painful)

3)equipment

regens triggers rare so mostly weak, hit buff same cus you don't even know if some skills suffer from accuracy or not, damage buffs fine, luk useless as parameter so same, 

4)items

no mass revive, no stat buffs, x2 gold appears so late it's useless too.

Overall first 2 bosses was like 6.5/10, patchy was 3/10 immortal books was super annoying and recovery didn't helped, rest of game like 4, reisen with mass sleep or 16k mass damage because lunatic eyes 2/10, final boss 1/10

overall game is like 3.5/10 painful experince when you closer to end.

Oh my god, just remembered to log in to itch.io and found that someone is writing a long feedback comment to my dark past game design record that is done when I’m totally a noob, this is so awkward.

Thanks for the effort and long feedback, I’m totally not expecting a comment like this, but thank you.

Actually, 80% of the potential game experience problem are due to me failing to explain things properly in the gameWhen I’m making this game, I do not even have the good and basic habit to label out the damage formula/basic value and the status description, or the mechanic of the bosses(thanks to all the other games that are also not doing them), which is super dumb, there’s no dumber thing in the world of game design. A lot of interactive design and strategy stays perfectly well-hidden under this situation(e.g. using laceration to deal with the healing effects, including patchy’s book revive and the heal SCs of the later bosses, or starting preparing buff removal when the buff SC is chanting), while a lot of strong skills and the strategy based on them are not noticed or misunderstands——this can be a perfect example of why you should write the description when you’re making a game.

Control effects like stun/paralyze is mainly for suppress non-boss enemies, like patchy’s books and the tengus. And also, all skills with stun/paralyze effects have a high damage formula attached, so you can keep using them throughout fights in the first place, on this case, the 2% disable can be an okay incast.

For the value balancing, it’s mainly because this is something for a game jam, which didn’t give me much time to test and balance, especially for the later bosses(yes I’m talking about you Eirin).

Anyway, thanks for the feedback—-I’m thinking about deleting this game post right now, or do an update to fix all of those problems, making this thing stay here is so awkward.
