It seems to be a very common thing with pwNPD that we have way more empathy towards animals. Animals don't judge. Animals tread you according to their instricts, not because of arbitrary societal norms that do more harm than good. I'm hardly an emotionally empathetic person, but animals always make me smile. They give happiness by simply being. Unconditionally. So, of course at some point I had to make a tamagotchi / virtual pet game. And yeah, the connection to the late 90s era is also there. :D
