I don't know why the save data wasn't stored... it should have been.
Here's a save file right where v0.4.0 ends and v0.5.0 begins:

You will need to copy both files into this folder, I believe:
Android/data/com.mumeimiyafuji.orangesmash/files/saves/
You will need developer access on your Android device, I believe (in Settings, on the About page, tap the build number / Android version number 5-7 times), and even after that, the folder can usually be only accessed when connected to a computer, I'm afraid...
Let me know if this worked for now, otherwise, I will try something else.
