Review

Rating: 1/10

This RPG Maker MZ project feels very much like a starter experiment, and while I appreciate the effort, it still has a long way to go.

What didn’t work for me:

  • No random encounters, which made the final boss fight feel like a slog rather than a climax.
  • No mana potions or healing options, so wizards quickly run out of magic and become dead weight.
  • No story to tie the gameplay together, leaving the experience feeling hollow.
  • Frequent grammar mistakes that broke immersion.
  • No music at all, which was a major disappointment—the use of premade samples considered not welcomed in the community as a final project.

What I did like:

  • Some creative use of mechanics, like changing tiles and requiring specific party members to pass certain obstacles. These touches showed potential for puzzle-like gameplay.

Final thoughts: Right now, this feels more like a proof of concept than a finished game. There was an attempt, and I encourage the developer to keep at it—focus on adding story, polish, and atmosphere, because the mechanical foundation shows promise.

Thanks so much for the feedback. It very much is a starter, it was made during a 5 day game jam (Jamsepticeye) lol. So it's as much as could be squeezed into a game in 5 days. I do hope to expand it to a full game someday, so the feedback definitely is appreciated :)!

Thanks for playing it!

Edit: Also just noticed, what do you mean by no music? I wrote the whole ost for the game (using musescore & reaper). If there was no audio during your playthrough then that's defintiely a bug for sure. For example, the castle theme (greenwood), I have the entire score for in Musescore, so it's a huge compliment that it sounds like a sample :).

I apologies, music should always come from the heart, and every melody should be strung
