I think the exemption was in reference to an exemption from the slave rolls on the slave guild though if you Google manumission you get a bunch of gay advocacy stuff and in a porn game that might not be the wisest thing.
...and Google helpfully finding all meanings of a word -- no matter how archaic, obscure, local, jargon, or niche -- makes picking the best word harder than it should be.
