i didn't realizeee that i had to pick up a stick before i could use one so i kept trying to press E with those llama things and thinking the game was broken :(( eventually as i was walking towards the other apes to try it on them i realized there were sticks on the ground i could pick up. there's a sound effect for picking up items which is nice but not much to indicate when i'd made a pal and what they could do for me so i didn't see much reason in doing it. there was a suggestion to place rocks but i couldn't figure out how to pick up or move any of them which made me close the game.

after some time writing up this review i decided to give it another shot because i also wanted to check the audio again. it's set too low for me to hear and the start of the voiceline is hard for me to understand even with my audio up.... since i tried it again i noticed there were individual rocks around that i could pick up, but after picking and placing a few i got stuck in some crevice here.

so at that point i gave up again. unfortunately i wasn't really feeling this game.... worst thing was the movement felt painfully slow for me so i got impatient fast. there just wasn't enough direction to feel like i was doing the right thing and it didn't seem fun to have to slowly slide over the island to find more rocks

Thanks for playing! I HAD to implement settings menu, but didn't have time for that, really sorry. About Pals, firstly they were supposed to help player searching for rocks, giving you some boost, highlighting some interesting places.

If you wonder what moknkey said: Hi, do you have a banana? Yeeees?Okay, I see you're lost. Try making SOS sign, there are some rocks around. That's all, bye!

It's sad you haven't enjoyed but I totally understand this and will definitely improve my skills to make better games! Btw after jam ends, I'll fix everything

thanks for the clarification! settings menu is cool but with or without it i think it's best for your game to start up with decent volume if possible, i'd use connor youtube videos playing from my browser as a frame of reference for what standard volume should sound like.

for dummies like myself it'd definitely help to make those pal mechanics clearer, maybe the first pal that finds a rock has the text prompt of "a pal is calling for your attention" or something. sorry for the negative feedback, i hope it doesn't demotivate you from trying more jams and improving these skills.

Don't worry hah. Yep, I'll take your advices, anyways, wise person is who learns and not just give up after first failure
