I believe I've resolved the main issue. For some reason, it looks like my regular desktop notification manager wasn't working correctly. I was able to follow the steps here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Desktop_notifications and installed Mako to fix the issue. Playback seems to be resolved for now.
