Tried playing it but the money I would earn from selling and working didn’t add to my bank account in game. So couldn’t buy anything and progress the game.

Strange. Haven't had any reports of it yet though.
I have tested on my end (except macos) and everything seems good. Can you use the bug report option to provide more detail?
Ideally, what version, what platform, if tried on an old version save or not, and if you tried to modify save file or use cheats because that can corrupt it.
My suggestion would be to delete the save files and restart unfortunately if you're still experiencing it.
