  • Graphics : Phenomenal, there's a couple of minor nitpicks.
  • Music / Sfx: Very Good, wouldn't mind getting a copy of the OST.
  • GUI : Generally good but needs some work.
    • Some menus should be given more options, mainly graphical/display options. (Resolution, Windowed/Full/Windowed Full, Which monitor to display in)
    • There's some elements that seem to be an oversight (or glitch) : E.G. One section of the map some weird clipping happening.
  • Gameplay : Why is this good actually?
  • Notes :
    • I personally rather dislike slide puzzles, let alone the premise of an entire game built AROUND such and yet you (guys) made something that I enjoyed despite my predisposition against such.
    • The graphics are superb , many of the characters have great in-game pixel artwork as well as (Hades-esque) full character arts, as well as gorgeous set pieces.
    • The music is completely inobtrusive and I actually found myself at a few spots just saying nothing, doing nothing to absorb the music and atmosphere.
    • One nitpick I do have, is due to the nature of everything quite literally being a slide puzzle and that being your main method of transport, It does wear on me a bit.
      • Some areas, especially certain corridors that serve no other purpose than to serve as a transition or space things out could have their "puzzle" aspects taken out to be more expedient.
  • The character designs are weird, flamboyant, colourful and I'd have it no other way.
  • I'm looking forward to seeing the story unfold in the full game.
  • I enjoyed the 4th wall break demo-end.

You took a game type / genre that I pretty thoroughly have a disdain for and made me actually thoroughly enjoy it; I don't know if I should love you, hate your or fear you.

Hi Zflocco,

This is Paolo, the dev behind Sliding Hero. First of all, thanks for taking the time to try the game and for writing such detailed feedback. I'm really happy that you enjoyed Sliding Hero despite your aversion to the genre.
About some rooms being just a "transition", you are absolutely right: I'm fine-tuning some of the most obvious ones in the full game to either streamline them or make them a full-on puzzle. Also, about the game settings, I'm gonna revise the settings UI to make it easier to navigate and add some necessary options.

Regarding the visual bug you encountered, could you please provide a more detailed explanation? Was it related to the background tilemap having seams, or something else entirely?

Again, thanks for trying the game and for the kind words.

Cheers,

Paolo

I'm not sure where I point it out in the video but around 50:43 , if you look at the wall right below the large statue , there's a golden block and it's clipping under the wall, as well as the fact there's a wall there when there shouldn't be. The map seems kind of glitched or it's hand-made and is in need of a touch-up , e.g. two of the other golden blocks are not following a 'grid' and are off-centered.

1:22:25 - I'm fairly certain I encounter a visual bug here
