I’m having a problem with the public version 0.16.4. When I run the game, the window never opens. I’ve seen in the Task Manager that the process seems to start, but it closes after a couple of seconds, as if an error had occurred. However, there’s no message on screen or any evidence of an issue, apart from the fact that the game never actually opens.

I’m on Windows 10, running the game as administrator, and previous versions never gave me this kind of problem, so I don’t think it’s a compatibility issue. I’ve also checked that the antivirus or other programs aren’t blocking the process in any way. When the game starts, a log file is created, but I can’t find anything there that helps me solve the problem.

I’ve also tried downloading the game again, but I always get the same error when trying to run it. Any ideas on how I could fix this? Has this happened to anyone else?

Try opening Explorer (you may also need to show hidden items) and navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming.  In there should be a folder called Renpy.  Try deleting/moving the Headmaster folder inside (or even the entire folder) and start the game again from a fresh install (back up any save data).

Have you found any solution? I have the exact problem, tried almost everything but without success.

Actually, I suddenly found a way. After I forced my PC to run the game with the integrated card instead the dedicated one, it opens easily. If you haven't find a solution, then I hope it helps.
