This a cool idea, and need to be more iterated upon. You can make a great game with this foundation. I think the hardest part will be difficulty adjustment, coz right now I think this is too hard, I couldn't get more than 2 cargos.

The cargos makes the ship's tail longer and easier to hit, the enemy ship being indestructible also makes it harder, but at the same time it should be challenging also, many factors could be discussed, but its a good problem to have.

Anyway, I have fun, nice visual aesthetics, great game, keep on developing!

Thanks so much for the encouragement and great feedback! My original idea was that the tail of crates would introduce a growing risk as the game progressed, but you're right that it seems like there should be more ways to protect them.
