I am actually a fan of your channel and watch on twitch occasionally! I am working to redo the artwork in chapter 2 as watching games on your channel I've seen alot of final boss blues used in rpg maker games.
The battle system is a self made plugin. I had to edit some of the core files as well. There are some bugs with it that need addressed.
To get the dog on your team you need to have the fellowship stone from the shop or catch 100% of the fish to get one from Mr. Chip. Then talk to the dog at the orphanage.

I’m glad I could give you feedback on the game, now that I know the whole fishing game was a part to get the dog on your team, forget that statement about adding waves to make it much more harder, it just played so simple but of course I didn’t catch 100% so I guess it wasn’t as simple as it looked.
