What happened to "because the night " xD? Besides really great rhythm game you got here! Timing is in synch! Very nice done!

Not quite sure what you’re referring to with Because the Night, the song should be working fine. Unless you’re referring to how it’s originally a Patti Smith song.

Becuase the bass line is in a total different key or out of tune. But maybe its meant that way?

I’ll be honest with you, I’m in no way a musician, the best I can do is play Twinkle Twinkle and the knuckle song on the piano. I relied on sheet music I found online and transcribed it into the game. So if that sheet music was off, I guess my music is too, and I’m too tone deaf to notice it.

Didn´t play all of the songs (will catch that up) I played 4 or 5 and "beacuse the night" was the only one out of tune. Will tell ya if I find another one. Maybe you are interested in working with a composer/musician for future projects? I would be glad if you reach out, because the gameplay and like I said the synchronization are really well done!

Yeah, didin´t play all, but there are more issues. You can reach out on discord if you like

I appreciate the offer, but I'm probably not going to be making changes to the existing songs.  Each song takes me like a day or two to make, sometimes longer, and I simply don't have the time to invest into rewriting them.  I'd rather use that time to create more or add additional features instead of redo existing stuff.

So I just thought of one possible reason to why some of the songs are out of key, and it has to do with chords. The Game Boy is only capable of playing 4 different notes at a time, with one of those notes being drums. So that leaves me with only 3 notes I can play at a time. I’m working off of piano sheet music, so that means one note for each hand, and if there is a third vocal track it gets the 3rd note. If there is no vocal track, then I typically give that third note to the right hand. So if I have a chord on the left hand, say an A and C chord, I’ll play an “average” and make it a B. So that would most likely be why it’s out of key. In fact, I often have to do this on the right hand as well.

My other option is to use simpler sheet music with no chords, but I don’t like using that. The songs come out sounding very flat and simple. It’s a much richer sound when I play more complex music. But if a song is too complex, then I don’t use it, it simply isn’t possible.

Yepp everything is true, but to find the average is not how music works. For me it is a challenge to cover a rich song with only 4 channels. You have to improvise and look for solutions. You can shoot tones from both pulse channel in a way that it sounds nearly like a full chord. You can hear this in many of my tracks.  But 4 sure there are songs you cant transcripe. Like I said, besides of the wrong tune, your game has damn potential. And I offer myself as a musician & composer for future projects or even would help out with the current one, if you like. That said, I wont bother you anymore with that.
