We can also add « pilot » to the approved by families list because some of my family members actually wanted me to be that ☠️ I have the shittiest sense of orientation ever so how could I ever control a plane ?
And yea I think the overachiever mindset is basically present everywhere except the western world. There’s probably studies on that phenomenon too.
No sense of direction too, huh? 😂 We are the same, lol. Funny thing is, my little brother wanted to be a pilot at one point (and then engineer), but he eventually ended up as a doctor. Man kept showing me up since we were small (teasing, I am proud of him).
And that makes sense! I think it's because we're communal in general, so shame is part of it, but also because we tend to come from "third world" countries, so achieving higher education—in our parents' mind—is to be better situated in life.
