Good games (early ones at least), but certainly wasn't intentional. What similarities were you seeing?
Well, it was mainly Metal Gear 1 and 2, before Solid, maybe at least the first MGS, but the music kind of had the same tone with the cut scenes/story parts, and then of course the whole sneaking around, and being seen and caught. It just reminded me a lot of this game to the point it's making me want to play through Chapter 1 again.
