Definitely an interesting take on a few obvious inspirations! Some critiques I developed while playing:

  • Doors only have a single graphic with the handle on the left side, which means a set of double doors looks awkward and unnatural.
  • Slabs can only be placed on the bottom "half" of a 1x1 area.
  • Chests always face a specific direction instead of towards you.
  • Torches don't have a unique graphic for being placed on walls.
  • No upside-down stairs.
  • Sneakers. Sneakers in SPADES. I don't need dozens upon dozens of this item dropping from nearly everything I kill when I only ever need one.

This thing however. This fucking thing is my BIGGEST gripe with this game so far.

It's stated that enemies in this game only spawn on natural blocks, but this thing spawns in the AIR - meaning that with enough given space it can just spawn inside your house no matter what - and sometimes it even spawns in GROUPS of five or more.

And worse yet, unlike other mobs whose footsteps alert the player to their presence, it's completely silent, which means it's constantly sneaking up on you and causing a perpetual state of paranoia that I've never had to deal with in Minecraft or Terraria.

I really hope this enemy is either overhauled or outright removed from the final version of the game, because right now it's really bringing down what I'd otherwise consider a relaxing experience with this game.

Thanks for playing! Most of this is being addressed in 0.9. Been doing a lot of work on placement. Also yeah, the sneakers is a bit of a meme right now, due to my terrible balancing people end up with hundreds of them lol. Will certainly be fixing this too.

I do wanna clear up that the night flyer wont spawn in the air, it always spawns on the ground and flies up. That enemy specifically will only spawn on grass or dungeon bricks, so the inside of your house should be protected as long as the floor isn’t made from those materials. Placing torches will also prevent them from spawning on the surface. They need a red light level of 0 to spawn.

That being said there is a bug currently where if a lot of enemies group up outside of your house, sometimes they can push one of these guys through a wall.

Could you post a picture of where they spawn for you so I could see what might be going wrong? If it’s a bug I’d like to make sure I can fix it.
