The stomach UI element only appears on hard mode, and you flash ghosts with your lamp, overlap them while stunned, then press V. You sure you aren't playing on 1.0? And the encyclopedia should appear when you encounter a ghost...
Makes sense, I was playing on normal.Turns out I was using 1.0, the download link here was the 1.0 one. I feel really stupid for not catching that, thanks for telling me though!
