I've noticed there to be a bit of lag in the base when looking in specific directions, which makes me think DrNose is working on something inside of the base, or potentially even underneath the base, as I have similar issues with other games where there's either a lot of interactions happening or there's a lot that the computer running the program has to calculate. This is entirely just speculation, however, and should not be taken seriously. Might literally just be a weird bug and nothing more, but it's fun to imagine the possibilities.
That's an interesting observation! I've experienced similar directional lag in the base, particularly when looking towards the eastern section. It could also be related to lighting calculations or shadow rendering in those specific areas. Have you tried adjusting the graphics settings to see if it affects the lag pattern? Sometimes lowering shadow quality can help identify if it's related to specific objects casting complex shadows.
Unfortunately at the moment, I don't have the ability to play VotV, but that's also something I hadn't considered at the time of posting. Whenever I get the chance to, I'll fiddle with the settings to figure out if that's the case or not.
Whenever I DO get to it, it might have been so long ago that this discussion might be rendered totally irrelevant by the time I get to it, but I only really tend to think of the graphical settings if a game is running at something like a slideshow, and I just put up with it if it's only marginally annoying. This is something I'll need to be more aware of as time goes on, especially since the current computer I'm using is noticeably less technically powerful than the previous one I was using, so thanks for pointing that out.
