cool idea...and what would make it good that it need months in the game for the baby spirit grow up, and during it development, events, scenes, a lot of other things....i already shared a idea about the pregnancy be optional by make the spirit take something need to get pregnant. and through the pregnancy time, the player have to take care of the mother spirit and any missing needs, might lead for the baby spirit to die.
