Absolutely brilliant game. I'd almost call it a masterpiece.

But what were they thinking by using Hawt Dawg Man (weird anthropomorphised hot dog) as the teacher?

Yes, it's a LiS in-joke, but this ruins immersion, especially in the final scenes.

(I get the need to replace Jefferson, and I appreciate the Mx. prefix, but they could have actually had a real NB original character...)
