So, question. How does this organ transplantation thing work? They take his own organs, "treat" them, then they remove it and transplant it into who needed it, but this is what I don't get. Wouldn't the person run out of organs? They don't have replacements for all of them. Yet Cy said he's donated one of his kidneys 6 times and another 5. So are they donating the "artificial" ones? If not then what are they swapping out? It makes no sense with him saying "replaced with an artificial one." Pointless to put mechanical organs in him, then just remove it when needed. Just put the fake one in the recipient, no?!

OK so it sounds like they have replacement/immature organs that they load into the carriers and over time the carriers grow/mature the organs to be ready for harvest. The carriers are kept in pods/don't have a lot of physical activity going on and are on some kind of life support (hence the ports) so they can survive with premature organs that the recipients wouldn't be able to function with. The carriers are like living bioreactors.

See. Even with as nuts as that sounds, it makes more sense than just, "remove your treated human organ, and replace it with an artificial one." Like, he'd be a fuckin robot at this point, which I guess he could be 😉.
