I dunno how I found this game, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Aesthetically pleasing, nice music, charming premise. I do have a some critiques - I know the game is from 2022, and unlikely to be updated, but I hope the feedback is useful for future projects.

First and foremost, while the game is clearly meant to be cozy and relaxing, that feeling starts to wear off once you reach a critical threshold of moths. It's nearly impossible to keep them all fed after a certain point. And it made the game stressful. I kept trying to figure out ways to maximize the efficiency of the in-game days, so my moths wouldn't starve. I dunno if they can actually die from not eating for too long, but I didn't want to find out.

So, I feel like there are a couple ways to mitigate this. First, would be to increase the amount of growing space, as well the length of days. More time and space to grow herbs makes it easier to cultivate more moths. Another option would be to allow the release of moths, so you don't have to keep up with the demand of feeding so many. I feel like this maybe could have an additional upside, so it doesn't feel as sad, but IDK what.

Another aspect I didn't like as much is how carrying things works. Being only able to carry one object at a time got tedious after awhile. It would be nice if you could carry more than one. Even if it was just multiple of the same object, it would speed things up a lot, greatly reducing the amount of running back and forth.

Something else that would be nice is a storage unit of some kind. Sometimes I end up with more seeds than I need, but I can't put them anywhere. They just end up on the floor in a corner, and I have to guess how many I have of a given kind. Being able to store them, and see how many I have currently stored, would be useful. It would also be useful to store extra moth eggs, since there's been a few times where the incubator was full and I just had to leave eggs lying around for a couple days.

Another possible option for managing eggs specifically would be the ability to sell them. If you already have seven lavender moths, you might not want any more eggs for them, so you can just get rid of the extra eggs. Let someone else get really into giant moth cultivation.

Finally, I had some trouble with weird object interactions. Mostly when trying to feed moths. Something would get in the way and I'd do the wrong action. Like I'd accidentally pick up a flower pot, or start using the spindle. I'd even think I was feeding the moth, because it would show the loading circle for holding down the interact button, but then it would do something you need to only press for instead. I also had issues with feeding being interrupted partway through, usually when another moth lands on top of the one I was trying to feed. Or I'd see the dots for a hungry moth, but I couldn't feed it when another moth was on top of it, even if that moth was already fed. And since the moth movements are so irregular, there was a good chance that the hungry moth would fly away the moment I'd try moving to a different position to feed it without issues. Which all just exacerbated the problem of having so many moths to feed with so little time and space.

In closing, I know I seem really critical, but I only bothered saying anything because of how much I loved the game. I played for 100 in-game days. I ended up with 6 cerulean moths, 6 lavender moths, 5 pale moths, and 1 sable moth. And I cared about all of them and tried hard to take good care of them. I wouldn't have stuck with it if I didn't really like it, in spite of the bits I didn't care for.

Thanks for your detailed feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Although I won't be updating this version, I'll take all this on board for the next Mothkeeper.

ohhh come one just a tiddlywink of a patch update ohh pleease my king just a few extra minutes a day ahhh

Good to see you're still around! I really enjoyed this game and am thrilled you're considering another Mothkeeper. Good luck!
