As mentioned in the jam notes we were inspired by real life bucket brigades, it's really interesting seeing people pass the buckets back and forth as efficiently as possible.
100% agreed on your comments on how to improve the game. We considered a lot of those things, but eventually had to cut as much scope as possible when we were getting closer to the deadline. I'm sure you know how it is 😅.
Some of things we were considering that didn't make the final cut (mostly due to time):
- Characters that could "throw" buckets to each other instead of just passing them
- Spells that the user could call while the fairies were putting out fires (a haste spell to make certain fairies move faster, a spell to put out fires, etc)
- Adding a firetruck / portable reserve of water
- Hero characters
