Brilliant use of the loop theme here. Admittedly, the learning curve is a bit hard to get used to at first, especially with looping the mouse while keeping its position in the area you want to land on. Once I got the hang of it, all I could think of was how I would dunk the next snowball-throwing child into purgatory while grooving to the music.
The visuals are cute and silly, especially the sprites of each character falling. The little hop that every enemy made when the demon landed on the ice was a bit of a small animation that I couldn't help but appreciate. I really relate to the cats in the background bobbing their head the entire time. The boss stood out to me the most, its design felt like some goofy knockoff Doomguy, here to slay the ice skating demon from hell! The dumb grin on his face always gets a few chuckles out of me.
I'm a huge sucker for the music and sounds used in this. The combination of the music and gameplay is way too good at making me come back for more. There were very few instance where I wasn't grooving to the music while trying to do maximum spins. Personally, I enjoyed the music from Stage 8 and onwards the most, as I'm a huge sucker for that synth kind of music in games. I always cracked up at the screams of each character falling into purgatory along with their facial expressions, especially the demon. The lines from the boss really got me hyped while grooving to the music. All of that combined with the gameplay makes me keep replaying stages over and over. It's amazing that you all managed to pull off this harmony between the sound and gameplay!
What really shines the most for me is the gameplay. The quick mouse loops with the small speed boosts after landing each jump kept me on the edge of my seat. Clearing each level after every attempt made me either want to retry the stage again for a higher score, or immediately jump to the shenanigans in the next stage. The possibilities feel endless when it comes to these stages! I can imagine players making custom stages for this and keep the game interesting. The combo meter is super satisfying to maintain while carving out holes. I was retrying the first stage so much that I'm on top of the leaderboard on that stage! I certainly wasn't expecting this game to keep puling me back every day, even after beating all the stages.
Overall, this is a simple but addicting game to me. I'm looking forward to any future developments if the game is receiving future updates. I can see so many different ways to play, like time-based stages and bonus points based how much ice gets cut off.
All in all, amazing work to everyone in the team! I now have a new game to obsess over for awhile.
