From what I see, they're still working on the novel, as they sent a message and a pixel-style sprite image of Beru and Owen, which reads as follows:

RPG VERSION OF BERU (No sprites. The RPG has its own sprites.)
THERE IS A NORMAL BACKGROUND AND AN RPG VERSION.
THE ENTIRE SCENE WILL BE MADE UP OF 3 BACKGROUNDS WITH THE SAME, AND A PIXELATED RPG OF THE SAME BACKGROUND.
So there's still hope for a new update to the novel ^^
