I like the idea but as I was unable to tell where the block was going to land causing a lot of placements to be a block off, I'd reccomend adding something to show where your block is going to end up. Also the patterns on the blocks adds what I think is unnessesary visual noise, tying it to the color would make it much more readable and more accessible to people with colorblindness
