Really, a VPN has been a requirement for using the modern internet for a while now, just like adblockers, it's just that many people don't realize it. DLSite and many other Japanese sites for example literally show different listings if you're coming from a non-Japanese IP (because of, again, credit card censorship and hysteria). Piracy is becoming more and more in vogue again as streaming services go to shit, and really, there are just so, so many ways modern websites and services screw you over with region locking.
I will say, once you find a service you like, just buy a full 6 months to a year. Much cheaper that way. (Then again, maybe it's best to wait a FEW months before committing, given the chaotic nature of all this. Who knows what the UK/EU are going to do next.)
