I'm confused as to what I should be looking for. Feel like once I understand it, it'd be a nifty concept.

The following spoiler alert is intended for readers other than the original author to whom I am replying.

SPOILER ALERT! THIS REPLY CONTAINS HINTS YOU MAY WISH TO DISCOVER ON YOUR OWN!

What you are looking for is one particular door that has all four of these:

  • A key Color = Red, Yellow, or Blue
  • A key Handle = Circle, vertical rectangle, or horizontal rectangle
  • A key Window = No window, a circular window, or a square window
  • A key Frame = No frame, a full frame around the outside of the door, or a small horizontal rectangular frame on the lower half of the door

The way you find these keys is through logical deduction. At each level, one of the two doors will have one or more of the four key elements, and the other door will only have elements that are not key elements.

Example: On Level 2, the door on the left is Red, with a Circle Handle, No Window, and No Frame. The door on the right is Yellow, with a Vertical Handle, a Circular Window, and a Full Frame. The color Red is a key element, and none of the other elements are key elements, so you should choose the door on the left that has that one key element. If you do, you advance to Level 3. If you choose the incorrect door on the right with no key elements, then you go back to Level 1.

No matter whether you choose correctly or incorrectly, you have gained the same information. You know four elements that are incorrect (because they were used on the incorrect door), and you know four elements that might be key elements until proven otherwise.

Sometimes, the same element will appear on both doors. In that case, the element must be incorrect because a key element can only appear on correct doors.

If you have to repeat a level, the doors will probably appear to be different from your previous visit(s) to the level, but any key elements previously seen on the level must reappear on the correct door. No new key elements will be added to the level.

If you keep track of which elements are incorrect, eventually you will have eliminated all but four from the list of elements that might be key elements, which means those remaining four elements must be the key elements. You can usually determine this fairly early on, but you will need to keep going through higher levels selecting correct doors until you find and select the door with all four key elements: “The Only Door” that lets you escape!

Thank you so much for trying my game! I hope this fuller explanation of how to play the game inspires you to give it another try. If you do give it another go, please reply and let me know which hints you think were most helpful.
