I couldn't wait to play as soon as I saw the prototype was out!
I love the characters and little story included, it was entertaining and gave a reason to make dresses and a community around it. The burlap is so nice to make mock-ups and try out shapes, though I do think that could be mentioned in the tutorial. I also had no bugs or glitches, unless the fabric going under the pencils and sewing machine counts.
There are a few things that could definitely be improved for the final version. Mainly, the sewing mechanic. I think making the machine go with space while moving the fabric with the mouse could work, with maybe a speed gauge on the side? I'm not too sure, figuring out the perfect way for that will require lots of testing. It was also hard to figure out where would get 100%, since the line is so big. Either having the area inside the line be all 100% or having a thinner line could help. Maybe just having a marked seam allowance on the machine could work?
Other improvements could include:
- The pattern pieces having no visible name while on the fabric.
- Owned fabrics not having a menu to scroll through
- Having a bigger and more detailed menu for the designing
- Having days with a summary of money gained, used, and gross.
- A place with old designs.
- The 3D aspects being a bit more stylized, as they currently feel a bit disconnected. Not quite sure how to accomplish that though. Maybe drawn backgrounds in the draping place?
Overall, I will be ecstatic if the full version releases. With some tweaks and more content, I'm sure this will become one of my favorite games! I love this idea and the execution is already most of the way there!!! :D
