Kudos for this first step!
I can assure you the ones crying for censorship are a loud minority and companies abusing their power to bully distributors, the majority of us does not want any kind of censorship!
I always loved Itch.io as the place for all kinds of indie games, even the weird, out there ones, including the NSFW games. Even if it is not something I'm into, even if it is content that I or some other people find distasteful, I was glad that a place existed nonetheless for that kind of content, for all kinds of people, which is what true inclusivity is. You gave us that place, please don't let it die so easily! If someone doesn't like that content, they can always choose not to engage with it - adults are capable to make that decision for themselves, nobody should be a cultural gatekeeper. We are all capable of distinguishing reality from fictional content, nobody gets hurt by fictional content and culture should not be censored. Resistance is already forming, a lot of gamers get together to protest these kind of moves from the payment processors. We all sit in the same boat - please help us in your own way and join our cause!
