You're totally right — the game throws you in without much explanation, and that’s something I need to fix.

The main chapter, The Nephite’s Last Stand, is based on one of the final chapters of The Book of Mormon. You play as Moroni, the last general of a collapsing civilization. It’s meant to feel grim — like a losing battle against overwhelming odds. That’s intentional thematically, but I know the gameplay doesn’t explain that well yet.

That said, the current win/loss conditions are honestly a bit hacky — like how it says “You Win!!” even when the enemy takes your king. That’s just a placeholder and not how the final version should behave. Definitely a rough edge.

The other two chapters are more straightforward — not really tied to the narrative, just extra chess-style game modes for fun and variety.

Eventually I’d love to add better intros, story context, and real win conditions. But for now, this version is pretty barebones. I appreciate the feedback though — it helps me figure out where players are getting lost.
