I think that in terms of composing an emotional track, it's on its way. I don't have the best ear so I can't say for sure on the exact chords used, but I believe it's a lot of i-VI-VII chords over and over. I'd recommend swapping it up to bring out some more emotion. Adding some modal mixture (borrowing chords from other key signatures) could be a great way to bring out a certain tone you're looking for. For example, a major four chord in a minor key signature could add a lot of hope to a track whereas a minor four chord in a major key can add a sense of desperation or depth. Those words aren't the best to describe a minor four in a major key, but something along those lines. Nice ideas overall, I'd say it's too repetitive for being a four minute track. The VSTs sound nice!
