Today marks the Early Access launch of Blendkins, a game that combines charming Pokémon-style visuals with a critical narrative about wildlife trafficking. Developed by TRINAC Studio, the game is now available on Itch.io and coming soon to Steam. In Blendkins, players experience both sides of this cruel reality: as poachers capturing wild animals for illegal trade, and as social media-influenced buyers purchasing these exotic pets.
Through exploration, management mechanics, and moral choices, Blendkins uses its cute aesthetic to contrast with dark themes, encouraging reflection while remaining entertaining. The Early Access version includes initial content featuring multiple habitats to explore, three unique Blendkins creatures, and a consequence system that drives the game's message home. Future updates will introduce more animals, hunting mechanics, and visual improvements.
"We want people to have fun, but also to think," says Caique Ferreira, the game's director. "Blendkins isn't just about 'catching animals' - it's about understanding the environmental impact of this trade." The game has already drawn attention for its unique approach, blending engaging gameplay with digital activism.
