I take it there are no sound effects for the game/scenes? If there is, all I can hear is the BGM, which i turned off.
Correct. No voices, sound effects, or noises other than knocking, vehicle engine sounds, and a few other (spoiler) sounds... There's 1 single voice somewhere during a sweet loving moment on the good path.
