Some activists and (allegedly I'm only going off one source atm but I'm inclined to believe them) the execs at mastercard/visa threw a fit over one specific game on both itch and steam which is a cherry picked problem case and used it as an excuse to bash adult games as a whole.
hence the quotations. They have been active for years and someone (probably one of theirs) listed a game on itch and steam without a appropriate age rating and all hell broke loose
