there are practical ways to maintain this website as a bastion of freedom, and itch should let nsfw games, and games in general, be paid for in crypto, or an alternative payment processor, a non american one

Expecting people to move to crypto, one of the most unstable alternatives to a currency, sounds like shotting yourself in a foot.

Agreed. If itch.io tried to do an all-crypto payments solution, I'd leave it in a split-second.

I'm already investigating alternatives to this site over the de-listing/de-indexing thing.

its either everything is taken down by fascists or you move to crypto or some other service, its really not that hard to pay with crypto either.

The pulling down of NSFW games is due to a feminist organization going after those games, especially after the game, No Mercy came out in April this year, 2025.  The feminist organization Collective Shout sent an open letter - linked here - https://www.collectiveshout.org/open-letter-to-payment-processors - to payment processors to put pressure on or shut down Steam and itch specifically to remove the NSFW content.

Yes, I would prefer sites like itch and Steam to maintain their independence, but first you must understand whom is attacking you.  Then you must understand how to protect yourself from their preferred methods of attack, and then useful ways to counter them.  You might also look into the enemy of my enemy being my friend.

Pretty damn sure that almost no feminist claims to be conservative.  They are diametrically opposed, something about patriarchy and strong traditional families being inimical to feminism.

There is no such thing as a conservative feminist. Either one is a feminist or a conservative. People in ShitSky(Bluesky) say Collective Shout is majorly conservative, but I don't really believe it.

We're building https://altgames.io/, an alternative game marketplace for people who have been affected by the recent censorship. Feel free to send me a DM if you're interested, I'd love to chat.
