You get permanent access to Creator for this Virt-a-Mate including all updates that apply to improving VaM (also known as VaM 1). When the next, totally different and completely rewritten version of Virt-a-Mate comes out (that isn't compatible with any existing people, clothes, plugins, hair, etc.) that is not included in this purchase.
It's like when you purchase Windows 10—your plugins and everything are built to support Windows 10. If a new version like Windows 11 comes out, you don't automatically get Windows 11 or its compatible plugins and features. In short: Windows 10 is for 10, and Windows 11 is for 11. Am I right?

Right, you get permanent updates for this version VaM (1.x). But eventually there will be a totally new software (not even compatible with VaM 1 stuff) that isn't included.
