I'll preface it by saying that my oh my, that is a solid proof of concept you've got there! Erotic stealth games aren't exactly rare but yours got this real nice touch to it!
I'll go with the negatives first to go into the positives, so we end on a good note. As a reference, I only finished Truffle's questline (Started the couple one but ended up stopping halfway through to write this review, to point out a bug, namely)
So, the negatives, for the few there is:
- I don't know if it's me being dumb as possible, or an issue with the browser version I played on, but I... don't understand the minimap? Whenever I start the game i feel like the map's changing to record where the walls are and stuff, but I wander for five minutes and then I can't understand a thing of it.
- Certain labyrinth sections, especially in the backyard are wayyy too dark and you barely see where you're going. Now, they are also very empty so I don't know if those two things are related, but i'm pointing it out for the sake of it.
- Weird visual bug where some items will stay stuck on your character despite it not being equipped. Happens with quest related items, not sure what causes that (I think trying to equip another items that is already "locked" out by a cursed item will cause this. While it happened for both cursed outfit, the only one i can explain in detail would be the cursed bunnysuit: As I was wearing another outfit (The revealing dress if i recall), I went and grabbed the cursed bunny outfit, and immediately went inside the chest next to it (A guard was coming, didn't felt like running). It loaded Ratalie directly with both costumes on her. Doesn't impact gameplay much yet, but rather mention it. (Well, this was what made me stop to write the review, if anything)
- Someone mentionned it, but obtaining the Armbinder while wearing a cursed item will prevent you from exiting the area where the Armbinder is. One solution is to see what causes the Armbinder to get stuck, the other is to add some crates or whatnot to let you jump outside of the area. (Doesn't fix you getting stuck)
- Most of the comment mentionned it aswell, but a save feature could be great.
- The dressing system is great, but I wish you could select manually which item to wear and not cycle through everything, knowing certain items remove what you had (I had to retry a couple of time to have the corset and the horseshoe nipple clamps on because the dresses always removes either one)
Now for some random details and Quality of Life ideas:
- Not sure if the idea is that we enter the tight places unaware of what we'll find on the other side, but trying to peek the other side of the smaller holes often make the camera freak out a bit and you can barely see a thing. on the sides. Then again, it that's what you wanted, disregard this point
- For some funny reason, you can have Ratalie use the doggy gear but have her arms locked in an Armbinder/Cuffs(Neck)/Cuffs(Behind Neck). It doesn't impact gameplay or anything negatives, it is just a bit funny to see.
- Could we have the items that we already picked up be highlighted in another color once they are in our inventory? That or have them disappear once you collect them, just so one can see which item they've already collected or not.
- I have no idea what are the purple and red fumes that you can see in the game (Purple is the one leading you to Truffles, red is when you go to the basement). I imagine they're visual stuff just to show you points of interest?
- The cage is sadly unusable when wearing the puppy gear, due to Puppygear preventing hiding
- If you want to be mean, you could have your character be noisier while getting plugged, making dodging guards slightly harder
- Not sure if there's an in game use for emotes yet? Not that there is a NEED for them to be useful, just wondering.
- Could be fun that being blindfolded make you hear the guards better and you could ear the echoes of their walk. Just a thought, could be hard to code into the game, though.
Now onto the positives!
- Movement is fun. It really is. Though it could use some minor improvements here and there, nothing major (the ability to jump over small ledges while running could be nice, but I'd understand if you don't put it on to make the chase sequences more tense) Found myself trying to find some speedrunner techs to maneuver around faster. (Ratalie mayyy be a little slow at times when not running, but it doesn't hinder all that much, i'm just impatient so that's on me.)
- The Petplay gear. You have no idea how legitimately joyous I was moving around in it, because it doesn't feel like a slug like in most games. (Is it just me or do you run faster in pet gear?) The dog run animation is charming, and the fact crouching makes you sit in place is genius. (Could even drop an use to it by having you obey oder from a dog trainer or something~) Could tell you put some care in it.
- The whole Scent sequence with Truffle is a nice idea, can't wait to see it fully expanded upon in a full fledged game. (Go try to find her in a labyrinth using only your smell, now!) (Only detail with that right now would be having a "scent" marker that goes into the main building right where Truffle was the first time you have to find her so players know what to look for)
- The character design and their expressions are of quite good quality, which is rare enough to note for 3D NSFW games! Even the guard have a charm to them, despite them not having a face, simply mustaches.
- The clothing system, despite the whole trouble it can give when you want to put a specific combo of clothes, is a nice touch! Stealing, yes, but in style! (And, well, stealing YOUR style!)
- The environment and level design is well thought out, although you might need an explaination as to why we can't use door later down the line (or add Keys for specific doors?). But aside from that, the different routes to dodge a guard's route, the hiding spots and all that are nicely done.
- The title screen. I admit i've overlooked it myself at first, but as I hear and see it playing while writing this -maybe needlessly long- review, I do have to acknowledge the cinematography of the gameplay snippets through a third person's view. a clever way to show you what's the game is about, aswell. May seem like a small point, but it's through a bunch of small point that the end project is so good.
Aaaand I think I said most of the thing i had to say! The game looks promising, I'll say it again, can't wait for the future of it. I see that there is a pony gear outfit so I'll -maybe wrongfully- assume the next NPC and their questline might involves ponyplay? Can't wait to see what you'll come up with it, especially if, just like the puppy gear, it changes the way your character moves around in a fun way! (Speaking of the puppy gear, I don't know how hard it'd be to code it, or if that'd be interesting from a gameplay standpoint, but would you consider an addition to the quest line where Truffles takes you out for walkies and you have to follow her around, making sure you don't "break" the leash by being too far from her? Just throwing the idea in here, do of it as you'd like!)
Anyhow, can't wait to see what you have in store with that game!
But please to not burn yourself out and make sure you keep enjoying this project!
P.S.
Just had a bit of a thought: Maybe make it so you keep the gear that was used on you in the questlines so you don't have a moment where a characters asks you for a piece of gear (cursed) when you already have (or wear) the non locked/cursed version of said gear
