Em relação ao problema: pelo que descreves, parece estar relacionado com o próprio emulador (PlayGuy). Não temos experiência direta com ele, mas testámos o jogo em vários outros emuladores como o My OldBoy, mGBA e Visual Boy Advance, e não temos tido problemas em guardar e carregar o progresso nesses.
Se tiveres possibilidade, recomendamos experimentar num desses para ver se o problema desaparece!

Regarding the problem: from what you describe, it seems to be related to the emulator itself (PlayGuy).
