In the gallery there's one enemy? trap? That's just a rear sticking out of the wall. Where in the game do you encounter it? I've played through twice while taking multiple routes and can't find it.
When going through the game you should see rooms that you can enter usually having a green glow around them. This is the place where you save and where you talk to the NPC in red clothes.
