that's the point of those platforms, you're not paying to play the game, it will eventually be free, what you're doing is supporting the creators to continue the development of the game, it's not free to have voice actors for every character and making the game itself costs money. No one is forcing you to pay but it's obvious that those who pay have to get more benefits for helping to the development of the game, if you don't want to help even if you like the game, that's okay, but don't complain.

"it will eventually be free" - some games will be, some games wont. What I dont really like is when people come to some platform to use it only as a promo for another platform. Steam, for example, forbids external links, but people are still trying to use their steam store pages and posts to promote their patreon page. I mean, I use itch.io because I like their payment model, but some developers come here to use itch.io not as a ditribution platform, but as a patreon promotion platform, and this is what I really dont like.
