As a stylistic choice, I sometimes employ the linkreplace macro to reveal more text without having to use an entirely new passage in Twine.
This macro can also highlight a word or phrase by making it clickable and replacing it with another word if clicked, but it doesn't branch the story. Can definitely adjust my style if necessary, although neither option leads to alternative routes or changes in flavour text on the following passages. Therefore, there is only ever one clickable link that takes you to a new passage, except for the multi-choice option with true branching.
So it would look like:
- linkreplace to change a single word in a passage if clicked (more than one clickable element but not more than one choice or option)
- linkreplace to reveal "new passage" (more text only, so I can reveal some passage(s) one line at a time, or several paragraphs at a time)
Does this artistic use of linkreplace fall within the rules of the jam, or would it be best to skip to a new passage each time I want to reveal more text? Also keen on including a single instance of user input as a choice to make the ending more personalised, if possible:
- user input to set player name (framed as a single "choice" on the page that will link them to the next passage)
Would any of the above features disqualify a game?
