I’m working with an RTX 2060

That's a 6 yo GPU with 6 gigs of VRAM, and the (comfortable) minimum for realistic/non low poly scenes in Cycles would be ~8 gigs rn. So yeah, either switch to EEVEE or download moar ram buy yourself a new n shiny GPU, i am afraid >_<

The other things i can think of: get the latest GPU drivers, and also the absolute latest (or at least the latest LTS) version of Blender, that should help. And don't forget to turn the GPU rendering on in the global settings too (for Nvidia that should be at least CUDA, or even better - OptiX).

On the remaining HW: for the CPU, something with 4+ cores and somewhat recentish (like 5yo tops maybe) helps a lot too, just like 16+ gigs of RAM - which won't only help but could be a requirement for some larger/fairly complex scenes, else it's a good recipe for OOM crashes.

P.S. here's a lil guide on some useful Blender rendering settings, hope it helps ya to bring the rendering times down and the quality up~

P.P.S. and if you want something even more in depth (if slightly outdated), here's a good one too.

Cheers!

Hey thanks a lot for your advice !
i've switched to EEVEE and it's a lot better, plus everything was running on my CPU so ofci t was horrible...

I think I'll soon update my whole HW, maybe like end of August, try all the new shiny things that will help me. I have like 32 Gb of RAM but I'm afraid my GPU is the limiting factor for  everything...
Thanks again for you help ! Even if not perfect, things run a bit more smoothly now !

Glad to be of help~
