Hey there and welcome again ^^!
The offspring system is, right now, not quite finished yet. There will be different boons and goals that the player will be able to fulfill by... well using that system. The game is still in an early stage of development but I will be adding much more to this and the other systems.
When it comes to the map, I was thinking about adding a compass that would, upon using resources for it, show you the direction to the next stage of the current quest. I could add an intuitive map along with tracking the player position but... I find it not proper to do in a metroidvania, which should be based on exploration.
The Joystick will be lower in the next update, I'm already shipping it to the supporter hotfix build ^^
