It makes no difference whether I download the update itself or the full game archive.

At first I downloaded the update itself and replaced the files in the game directory - this error occurred. Then I downloaded the full version and replaced the files in the game directory - the same thing again. I deleted the game directory completely, extracted again and then it worked in the new game directory.
