Understandably, this is still a work in progress.  Something to note is that when walking through tall grass, you also interact with the grass you were already standing in, so there is a very high possibility to encounter-lock yourself into a single tile of tall grass.  This was amusing the first few times, but after the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th time, it does get old.

For me it was actually also the direction the character was facing that caused this.
If i had an encounter while looking right, I will inherently get the next encounter directly when trying to move right. This issue was resolved for me when I turned another direction first OR you can run while the game is still rendering post battle.

I have actually tried and the latter does work in some areas.  My issue is that there were some segments that were, like, particularly weird about their encounters?  I'm not sure if encounter rates are just different in some patches of grass over others, but there were some points were I literally couldn't leave that patch of grass because it kept me locked in.  Even after attempting to force my way through with changing direction or running during post battle.
